Energy saving and carbon reduction targets

Better than statutory requirements, the annual electricity saving rate is greater than the regulatory target of 1%.

In 2024, the Company implemented five major power-saving initiatives, achieving a total electricity reduction of 9.05 million kWh (4,858 tCO2e).

Waste emission reduction target

Reduce non-hazardous waste intensity by 10% by 2030 from a 2023 base year.

The Group's non-hazardous waste generation per unit of revenue in 2024 was 9.1 metric tons per 100 million revenue, representing a 14% decrease compared to the 7.8 metric tons recorded in 2023.

Water resource management targets

Reduce water consumption intensity by 20% by 2030 from a 2021 base year.

The Group's water consumption per unit of revenue in 2024 was 0.51 million liters per 100 million revenue, achieving a 17% reduction compared to 0.62 million liters in 2021.

Energy Management


AES is a professional lithium-ion battery module manufacturer, and the main energy used is purchased power, followed by the utilization of diesel and gasoline. In 2023, the energy consumption decreased by 28% from the previous year, and the energy intensity increased by 17%. Trend Power (Changshu) has introduced the ISO 50001 energy management system in 2023 and obtained third-party verification.

In the future, it will continue to monitor and develop energy-saving measures. Lighting and ancillary equipment will be changed to low-energy-consuming equipment to reduce energy consumption and achieve energy conservation and carbon reduction.

Usage of Renewable Energy

The Simplo Group is responding to the global transformation to low-carbon energy by installing rooftop solar photovoltaic systems, entering into renewable energy certificates to increase the proportion of renewable energy use. This gradual approach aims to achieve the RE100 target by 2040. In 2023, the group's use of renewable energy accounted for 80% (note). The usage status of various renewable energy sources is explained below:

  • Install rooftop solar photovoltaic systems: Since 2022, the main operational sites have installed rooftop solar photovoltaic systems, with a total capacity of 10.8 MW. The cumulative electricity generated amounts to 10,184 MWh, with a total investment of approximately NTD 250 million.
  • Signing a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
  • Purchasing renewable energy certificates: Purchase locally sourced renewable energy certificates such as Green Electricity Certificate (GEC). Trend Power (Changshu) have purchased 5,764 MWh of GEC (wind power generation) in 2024.
  • Self-generated Renewable Energy Certificate application (T-REC): Expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Energy Conservation

AES is not high energy consuming industry, we committed to enhancing the energy utilization efficiency. For the energy saving, include the lighting, air-compression, chiller and other energy saving apply to effectively lower energy consumption.

Waste Management


AES has established management procedure to ensure compliance with the regulatory requirements. We insist on a philosophy of “reduction at the source, and converting waste into resources” to reduce waste and convert waste into resources as the basis of our waste management. Waste generated during operations process includes hazardous waste and non-hazardous waste, all of which are managed and qualified local contractors for cleanup. Recyclable and household waste are sorted and then handed over to qualified contractors for cleanup and recycling. Waste management focuses on recycling and reuse. Waste that cannot be recycled is incinerated for energy recovery, and finally, any remaining waste will be disposed of in landfills.
