Energy saving and carbon reduction targets

  • Better than statutory requirements, the annual electricity saving rate is greater than the regulatory target of 1%.

Waste emission reduction target

  • Reduce domestic waste of business employees by 10% by 2027 from a 2022 base year.

Water resource management targets

  • Reduce water consumption per capital by 0.5% per year from a 2022 base year.

Energy Management

AES is a professional lithium-ion battery module manufacturer, and the main energy used is purchased power, followed by the utilization of diesel and gasoline. In 2022, the energy consumption increased by 3% from the previous year, and the energy intensity decreased by 4%. In the future, we will continue to monitor and develop energy-saving measures to improve the efficiency of electricity consumption and achieve energy conservation and carbon reduction.

In response to customer requirements and to reduce GHG emissions from fossil fuels, Trend Power (Changshu) has installed solar panels in the factory to generate self-contained renewable energy since 2022. We had completed the first phase of 1.3 MW in 2022 and the second phase of 0.4 MW in 2023, with a total installation capacity of 1.7 MW. The investment amount was RMB 7.5 million. Renewable energy electricity consumption was 421,802 kWh in 2022. This renewable energy electricity consumption accounted for approximately 3.6% of the electricity consumption in 2022, reducing GHG emissions by approximately 334 tons.

Energy Conservation

Safety
  • Monitor each collection point to ensure that electricity usage is not overloaded.
  • Understand and improve the power quality of the whole plant.
Energy Saving
  • Execute the planning of energy-saving facilities and energy-saving equipment.
  • Understand electricity consumption, set energy-saving goals, and manage unnecessary and high-power-consuming equipment.

Cost Reduction

  • Based on the data analysis of the monitoring system, countermeasures are proposed for high energy consumption, low efficiency, and non-essential electrical equipment, so as to reduce the cost of electricity in the factory.

Water Saving Measures

  • The discharge water from the pure water treatment equipment was originally discharged directly for treatment, but it was recycled and used for toilet flushing.
  • The toilet sink was originally a manual valve, but now it is an automatic sensor outlet valve.
 

Waste Management

AES has established management procedure to ensure compliance with the regulatory requirements. We insist on a philosophy of “reduction at the source, and converting waste into resources” to reduce waste and convert waste into resources as the basis of our waste management.

The waste mainly includes general waste, hazardous waste (parts and components of electronics, scrap, and defectives); local qualified vendors are commissioned for the disposal of both. Other recyclable and domestic waste is disposed and recycled by qualified vendors after classification. To ensure no leakage or pollution incidents occur during the transportation by the supplier; the plant in Taiwan is confirmed through website tracking of the environmental protection competent authorities, control and document receipt tracking. In terms of waste management mindset, we increase the overall proportion of recycling by using incineration to supply energy for use. Finally, the unrecyclable waste is incinerated (unable to supply energy for use) or landfilled. Implementation of green production for creating sustainable management.
